Ancient Egypt is notable for it greatness and power that was exhibited in the BCs and short period in the DCs before it was conquered by another powerful Macedonian Emperor; Alexander the Great. Nevertheless, before Egypt succumbed to the authorities of Alexander the Great, the kingdom which was led by it successive Pharaohs had already made incredible history through their culture and technological inventions that were new of their kind in the ancient times.

This post aims at revealing the great wonders of Egypt.

Note: Egypt is famous for its ancient civilization which has account for its to be one of the most visited country in the world with the purpose of tourism. Thousands of people tour Egypt to see and have insight of its ancient civilizations like it wonderful monuments and stories about its great Pharaohs.

Wonder number 1 – Pyramids of Giza

 The Pyramids of Giza is the oldest and the largest pyramids of Giza in the nacropolis bordering Cairo; Egypt. It is believed that the pyramids of Giza were build during the Fourth Dynasty of Egypt under Pharaoh Khufu. Again, it is believed their constructions took about 20 years before they were completed and it was around 2560 BC. The pyramids of Giza are the only remaining member of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Wonder number 2 – Temple of Luxor

The Temple of Luxor was one of the temples of Egypt that was dedicated to Theban Triad of Amun-Re, his wife Mut and his son Khonsu. It is considered to be the largest ancient Egyptian temple. The Temple of Luxor is located at the east bank of the Nile River, in the city that was called Thebes, but currently known as Luxor.

Wonder number 3 – The city of Cairo

Cairo is the capital of modern day Egypt. The name “Cairo” is translated as “The Triumphant” or “The Vanquisher” Cairo is an ancient city which was founded in 649 AD.  The city was close to other cities and villages like Memphis, Giza, Heliopolis, and the Byzantine, the fortress of Babylon in Egypt. Modern Cairo is fortified with many historic monuments and buildings. For Example the Virgin Mary’s Tree, the Sphinx, the Hanging Church and the Saqqara can be found in the city of Cairo.

Wonder number 4 – The Great Sphinx

The Great Sphinx is an incredible large statue of half-human, half-lion in Egypt. It is located on the Giza plateau at the west bank of River Nile near Cairo. The name Sphinx was given to the statue base on the Greek creature with the body of a lion, the head of a woman and the wings of eagle. The Sphinx is one of the largest single-stone statue on earth. The great Sphinx is believed to have been built by ancient Egyptians in the 3rd millennium.

 

Ancient Egypt was indeed a wondrous nation. Its works has affected the history of  the world even as in this 21st century of advanced technology and civilization. It is a country that has almost a level of percentage of the history and records of the world
